Founded in 1945 under the name of M G Electric (Colchester) Limited as a general installer and repairer of wiring and various types of electrical equipment.

1953 - Moved to a small factory on the outskirts of Colchester to start production of fractional horsepower electric motors for the Fan industry as well as other areas.

1954 - Acquired Aerosol Products, a company involved in Surgical Suction Equipment and commenced production of the SAM range of Medical Equipment at a premises in South London.

1960's - Further product expansion with the creation of the MG range of electric coolant pumps for use in the machine tool industry.

1970 - Creation of MGE's Print Section following an agreement with the American company, Royse, to manufacture and sell Royse dampening equipment throughout Europe, Australia, Singapore and Hong Kong under the brand name MG Royse.

1985 - Moved to a new larger location in Wyncolls Road following M G Electric's growth in the Print Industry. Creation of the first iteration of MGE's own brand of Cooling and Dampening Equipment.

1986 - Consolidation of SAM Medical equipment manufacturing into Colchester premises under the M G Electric brand.

1992 - Awarded our first British standard Quality accreditation

1995 - Celebrated 50th year in business.

1998 - Awarded Quality Assurance Certificate for the manufacture of Medical Suction Equipment

1999 - Acquired AWW, a manufacturer of Converting and Rewinding Equipment.

2000 - Rebrand of company to trade as MGE with 4 areas of business, SAM Medical Suction ; Ancillary Print Equipment ; Converting and Rewinding Machines ; Machine Tool Pumps. Creation of the WebCon brand of Converting and Rewinding Equipment

2004 - New PressMate range of Printing Equipment launched.

2008 - Creation of MGE India, a Joint Venture based in Delhi to manufacture PressMate Equipment for the Indian Print market.
 
2013 - Awarded separate ISO 13485 Medical acredication to complement already attained ISO 9001 Standard

2014 - Relocated to newly refurbished and upgraded facility on Severalls Business Park

2018 - Successfully transitioned to new ISO 9001 and ISO 13485 Standards

 

2020 - MGE achieves the milestone of 75 Years in business having been founded at the start of September 1945
